My planned return to blogging has stalled due to the fact that my housing situation has yet to be resolved (damn northern Virginia housing market) and the fact that I've started a new job where Internet access will be highly limited. But I'm taking advantage of a spare moment in a cafe to get the ball rolling with regards to GenCon 2012.
Yes, I'm going to GenCon this year. I'll be helping Joe Wetzel sell DungeonMorph Dice during the day, but I would like to make sure that I make the most of my evenings. In previous years, I had the most success with pickup games among friends. This year, I'd love to do some gaming with members of the DIY RPG blogger community. Being off the grid for the last few months means that I have probably missed some of this planning. So if anybody is still reading and knows of any efforts to organize games, please drop a comment.
As for myself, I would love to run one or more games (Risus or otherwise). There was talk of a Moon Soldiers (Space Opera) sequel, but I'm open to other settings. Trey Causey's Weird Adventures has particular appeal.

I'm kinda in the same boat you are, so I'll be watching this post with interest.
I signed up for only a few events and games so I plan on visiting Joe's booth, probably my friends over at the EpicTable booth, and hitting up the pick up games as much as I possibly join.
I have not seen too much pre-planning (I know Kirin did a sign up for his OSH game) so I am sort of assuming we will all get to GenCon and do a G+ post of "I am in the lobby of the hotel, starting a Gurps game in 15, need players!" and we will all sprint to get a seat. :)
Hi Trollsmyth! I'm driving home from a game (board game, alas) with Oddysey and she did mention that you were keen to do a meet up! So yeah, let's do it. Like Matt says, I suspect that there will last minute pickups but I do want to make sure I run something. I'll have various things in my pocket just in case. If I get a moment (tonight? tomorrow?) I'll drop by Circvs Maximvs to see what's going on. Regardless, watch thus space.
That makes sense. Im going to come prepared for pickups, in addition to whatever I can line up ahead of time.
I'm sorry to learn that real life has again intruded on gaming -- good luck with your housing situation and new job!
I love the DungeonMorph dice, and I just voted for the cards in the Ennies. I look forward to your GenCon report, and I hope that things will settle down enough to permit you to return to regular gaming.
@GeneD5: Good news! We found a house! So hopefully gaming will start to pick up again in earnest come September. And I know we'll try to play at least two more times locally before then. And of course, there's GenCon.
I'll be running a Adventurer Conqueror King mini-campaign on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday after the dealer's room closes at the Embassy Suites lobby. It's open table, so feel free to join whenever your schedule permits! Email me at tavis.allison@gmail.com if you want to be added to my notifications list, or just show up.
Re-Ryth :
At the risk of taking a beatiful melody and driving it into the ground, I am going to be at GenCon myself, along with Berry Eynon (Athelfrar), another one of the Ryth originals. I am open to a face to face session if there is any interest in discussing the few things I remember about the campaign.

@Tavis: Sounds awesome. Already mailed you...
@Len: Wow, I'm sure you'd have no trouble getting folks to your table. Let me know and I'll float the possibility in a post. I'd certainly like to game with you (Ryth or otherwise), just need to synchronize our schedules.
OK, Barry (sorry I mis-spelled it first time around) is also willing to do a sit down.
I have nothing formal in mind. Best course seems to be finding a convenient time. We'll work that up in next few days, input from anyone interested would be good.

At the very least I'm going to stop by the booth and say hi- and thank you for your excellent posts. I'm just going down on Thursday to look around.
@Lowell: cool, I look forward to meeting you. :)
