Geomorph #117

After a few weeks without access to my drawing tablet, I am now finally able to dip my toes back into the geomorph waters. Since the April Challenge, most of my thoughts regarding the grand geomorph experiment have run towards CityMorphs and the kick-ass side-view morphs that Dyson, Stonewerks, Matt Jackson, and David Millar are putting out. But given my recent dungeon crawl in the Karst Chantry, inspiration took me back to my original style.

In this tile, we have three distinct sections of hollowed out rock surrounding a gaping chasm. The most prominent feature is the slat bridge crossing to a crumbling stair leading up to a collapsed guard house on the edge of the chasm. The chamber in the northeast may have once connected to the collapsed structure, or it may simply have a view into the parts of the guard house that remain intact.

The southwestern entrance to the tile quickly ends in a window overlooking the chasm and a wooden platform is beginning to fall into the abyss in the northwest.

Awesome! I dig the massive chasm with options for silly players to attempt to find a way across, but very difficult to do so. Show them a ledge and they will think they can do it because 'the GM wouldn't have put it there if we couldn't get across." FOOLS!

There's a lot going on here. I love how it brings in some of that karst mood.

@Matt: yes, that is how it tends to work out. :P

@Porky: Thanks, that was the idea. :)

Nice map. I might use it in my own game.
