THE BALD EAGLE (Jesse Stewart)

Description: A bald-headed man with craggy features and a rock-solid build. His costume is a navy-blue flight suit emblazoned with a large white star. He wears red boots and gloves; aviator goggles; and of course his mechanical wing harness.

Tale: Jesse Stewart was a blond athlete from Iowa who always wanted to fly. Raised on stories of Great War flying aces, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps soon after graduating from college on an ROTC scholarship. He quickly proved himself to be a natural at air combat and earned quite a reputation for daring and often reckless tactics. Just months after volunteering to test secret experimental aircraft, he was diagnosed with a mysterious cancer and discharged. The chief scientist on the project, Doctor Leonardo, refused to let Jesse's talents go to waste. In an exchange for a life-saving treatment with only minor side-effects (including total hair-loss), Jesse would flight-test the doctor's latest invention - a mechanical wing harness constructed out of orichalcum, cavorite, and biological tissue of dubious origin. When the initial tests proved successful, Doctor Leonardo suggested that Jesse wear a mask and fight crime.
