Risus Lankhmar: Scene 5 (Part 3)

Kelthas and Hresstan battle bloody-minded whores while Nivek duels the man in the demon mask.

The northerner chuckles good-naturedly as he hears Kelthas' warning. "Of course it is a trap." He speaks to the women - a tall, willowy, auburn haired girl from the Eight Cities and a compact dark-haired beauty obviously plucked from one of the local grain fields - as he slowly walks into the room, studying the disturbed bedding and seeking sign of hidden foes. "But do not worry, my little doves, I... by Kos!!"

No civilized man could have heard the dainty unshod feet as they prowled over the thick carpets from the Eastern Lands, nor the well-oiled poinards leaving their hidden sheaths. But Hresstan's instincts were honed in the hunt for snow leopards, for the deadlier white-furred snow serpents, and for other fearsome predators of the Cold Waste. As the courtesans stab at their large target, the huge man moves with unexpected speed, sidestepping so that the blades cut nothing but the leather of his jerkin, then whirling to face his attackers.

Risus: Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (3) vs. Son of the Best Huntsman in his Tribe(3): 13 vs 14! Wow! As Hresstan moved only defensively, the girls' cliche does not decrease.

The heavy longsword in his fist would to most men be an inadequate weapon facing two knife-wielders in such close quarters, but despite his youth the barbarian is a veteran of many such conflicts on cramped ship decks. [Risus: Overly Large Former Pirate Raider from the Cold Wastes (4) vs. Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (3): 15 vs. 12] As the knives dart for his chest, he parries the farm-girl's thrust with his cross-guard, and catches the tall Mlurg Narian's wrist in his left hand. With a deft twist, he twirls her so that she now faces her pillow-sister, her knife-hand firmly held up between her shoulder blades.

Update: Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (3 2) -- one of them is grappled.

The women are not yet out of tricks, however. The taller one whirls her tawny mane up into Hresstan's face, meaning to blind him, as the dark-haired vixen leaps into a shoulder roll and comes up leading with a deadly thrust aimed for the big man's right flank. [Risus: Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (2) vs. Overly Large Former Pirate Raider from the Cold Wastes (4): 10 vs. 18] The northerner roars as he turns, giving his willowy prisoner a mighty shove. The women go rolling across the carpets in a tangle of shapely limbs, their knives flying from their hands.

Update: Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (3 1)

As they untangle themselves, the would-be assassins see the pale-skinned giant thrust his sword through the carpets and into the wooden floor. He grimly unbuckles his broad leather belt as he approaches them, his countenance calm but his eyes still blazing with fury. He wraps the buckle end about his hand as he growls. "I was raised not to strike women. But the two of you need a lesson in manners..." He smacks the leather into his hand as his rangy frame looms over the women...

Risus: Lecherous Roaring Skald (2) vs Professional Horizontal Performer/Entrepreneuring Part-Time Assassin (1): 7 vs. 5. Basically he manages to pin both of them down prone under one large knee, so that he could administer their medicine. They attempted to oppose, literally and ineffectually, with tooth and nail.
