SCENE 3 (Posted by Eloy)
Wherein the companions battle the house guard of a disreputable noblewoman.
Enraged, the guard sergeant on the stairs lets out a bellow, and propels himself forward in a reckless charge at Kelthas. The mercenary lithely steps aside, deflecting the wild thrust on his shield. The sergeant's brief scream of surprise and fear ends abruptly when he crashes down the stairs to land unconscious in a crumpled heap.
Risus: Sergeant pumps his cliché to 2. Elite House Guard Sergeant (2) vs. Red-Cloaked Mercenary Caravan Guard (4): 8 vs.13Kelthas quickly surveys the fight below him. Nivek seems to have one of the guards at a disadvantage, while a naked giant... Hresstan?, he thinks, has all but dispatched the rest.
UPDATE: Elite House Guard Sergeant (20)
The mercenary moves swiftly, jumping from stairs onto a table, and rushing to intercept Lycinia before she can flee.
Q: Does Lycinia have a cliché that allows her to flee swiftly greater than (2) [Very unlikely]? Yes, so let's call it a (3).Before the noblewoman can react, Kelthas reaches her side and places the blade of his saber along her throat.
Risus: Single-action contest. Can Kelthas cut Lycinia off before she flees? Mounted Scout and Pathfinder (3) vs. Fast and Loose Licentious Noblewoman (3): 12 vs.10
Eyeing the near-naked woman's figure appreciatively, Kelthas grins and says: “That's enough of that, poppet. Call them off.”
Q: Does Lycinia comply, given the disadvantage of her current position [Has to be]? Yes“Cytan! Guards! Stand down immediately!” The gold-worked ivory mask hides her features, but her cool tone and colder eyes betray no fear.
To be continued with Nivek...
